1-800-Bad-Union

Well, we're sure you all remember WebGalaxy, that Internet provider that CCWIPP lost half a million dollars on. And we're sure you remember AcuBid Com Inc. (later called Asia Web). That's the company that CCWIPP dumped over $1.2 million into before it went "south". Well, the guys who brought you those two fiascos are also named in a Teamsters election funding complaint lodged by a group running against Jimmy Hoffa Jr. The WebGalaxy/Acubid guys kicked in a bunch of money to help elect the Hoffa slate. But because they may have done business with the Teamsters, they weren't allowed to contribute, and a complaint was lodged.

Now it's really bad that the Canadian Commercial Workers Pension Plan would pour close to $2 million into ventures managed by these guys. However, that's not the end of it. One of the guys-JOHN S. IRVINE- 48 Director. BA & MBA, Western University, Toronto Canada- is President of both Affinity TeleSystems Inc. of Canada and U.S.A. Affinity TeleSystems. Affinity is a marketing management company in the telecommunications field with strong affiliation to the labor movement. Mr.Irvine is an officer and director of WebGalaxy, Inc., a non-reporting publicly traded Internet service provider based in Carlsbad, California.

California was slated as the program's initial target area.

Now you might say, "Isn't it swell that the UFCW is out there getting cheap long distance for itself and its members." But if you take a closer look, you will see that Affinity hired UFCW International President Doug Dority's daughter as Program Director-Affinity Southwest. Yes that means California. She was responsible for establishing a client base in the US Southwestern region for Affinity's long distance phone program and WebGalaxy's United Labor Online. She claims to have participated in the development and sales of WebGalaxy's United Labor On-line-the same one that ate CCWIPP's investment.

And what's really sick is that the UFCW International General President's daughter is advertising on the Web for opportunities to "capitalize on her contacts" in the union fund arena. She brags that her special abilities stem from her father's 35 years in the trade union business and that she has the ability to "access" union pension fund managers. It's pretty sick and pretty sad that this 1991 Virginia beauty queen is using her father's influence to help people get at union pension and benefit money. If you want to hire her, check out her resume.
