To Hell with Political correctness

ANDY FOR PRESIDENT.

Andy Rooney said on 60 minutes a few weeks back: (for those of you that don't know Andy Rooney, he is a 82 year old US TV >commentator)

I like big cars, big boats, big motorcycles, big houses and big campfires.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some governmental stooge with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts for squirting out babies.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts!

ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America.

Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens. Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I know what sex is, and there are not varying degrees of it. If I received sex from one of my subordinates in my office, it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal business. I would be "FIRED"
immediately!

I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English! My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry self if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation recount votes when needed.

I know what the definition of lying is. I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business. We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their
interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know
pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I believe a self-righteous liberal or conservative with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

"I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.

And if you don't like my point of view, tough. DON'T PASS IT ON!

I never cared for his half brother Mickey, and i dislike Andy even more now that i read this piece again. It's been around for awhile, and it still grates on me.

Say what you will about political correctness, but there are inequities in life that will never be balanced. I guess you can spurn them, ignore them or mock them, but they will not go away.

Some of the simple truths i saw virtually every day were: Black people had a tougher time getting ahead than white. Poor kids struggled in bad schools more than rich kids in their good schools. Immigrants worked their butts off, often while being treated like shit. Gays and lesbians were often shunnned for what they were, not who they were.

The list is endless, because there is very little justice or fairness in this life. I just never saw anything wong with trying find ways to make things right. I suppose if you have a problem with the Black Negro College Fund, then by all means, scream it from the rooftops.

I've always felt there were more important things in life to worry about...like really short people with a Napoleonic complex. You know Andy, those who have it all, and then act like they are the ones whose ox is being gored.

Pompous little prick...sorry bw2, just how i feel.

It is easy for someone to say something about another group but WALK IN THEIR SHOES.There have been a lot of atrocities committed by majorities against minorities, history is full of examples. There is nothing wrong with accomadating someone, intolerance is ignorance and is wrong.Yes he is allowed to spout an opinion but what if it was you or your young child or grandmother he was spouting about?

Political correctness is just that... political. Political correctness is what mainstream used to bury the inequities. it's difficult to discuss or resolve when the issue gets tied by political correctness before it gets air.

As grating and narrow as rooney is, and he is, the boarishness hangs out and we know where he stands. It's terrifying to know there are many more rooneys hiding under the politically correct boar blanket?

I think the post, regardless of who actually wrote it is great to kick around. We all like absolutes. Right/wrong, good/bad, etc. Truth is there are no absolutes. I don't like everything this post has to say, nor do I disagree with everything. I don't see what's wrong with that. I just passed the post on for fun.

BW2, please don't post and then back off. That's not fair. What parts do you believe and what parts don't you believe? If you posted for discussion purposes, please discuss the issues. The thread title looks like a statement rather than a question. However, the rolleyes seem to imply disagreement or a question regarding the validity of the positions taken.

I like this statement. However, I do not believe anyone needs an M-16 or AK-47 to hunt deer. Nor do I think they need a SAM missle launcher to hunt for duck and geese. But I should be able to buy a shotgun and go hunting with a licence during the season without someone bothering me if that's what I want to do.

This is pretty funny when you think about it. It's pretty much been the complaint since people first started to immigrate to North America. The movie the gangs of New York even talk about this very sentiment. (in small detail) I'd prefer entry into Canada be upon the condition of some basic level of understanding of our language if for no other reason than making people aware of their rights.

Immigrants have long been abused in the workforce. Sweatshops, agriculture etc. all the dirty jobs none of us want to do. Many do not understand their rights because they can't read or write in english. I talked to a guy on the sky train one day on my way to school who I thought had some pretty good ideas. I suggested he bring them forward and was surprised at his reaction. He didn't think that was a good idea at all. He was actually afraid he'd get in some sort of trouble for overstepping his bounds. Imagine if on top of his cultural perspective he couldn't read or speak english? how likely then would he be to speak out, particularly if he was being taken advantage of?

So do I

I think the police need more humility and far less testosterone. Para military organizations make me nervice to begin with. Ego maniack head cases with guns and authority make me downright anxious. Neighborhood beat cops seem more effective to me because they bring a personal element to the situation and not an ego. (at least I think they do. If you have evidence that's contrary I'm willing to listen) I think this "shoot first and ask questions later" attitude is part of the problem.

I hate to bother you bw2... I would like to say here: Why do you need food? But I know some smart ass is gonna ask me if I eat steak, so whatever, go ahead.

I have never been able to figure out why anyone who claims to be human would want to shoot an animal, living breathing warm blooded life bearing animal, just for sport.

I've been hunting several times. Never once shot a damn thing. I'd strave if I had to rely on food I hunted (some indian I am eh) but I guess it's the memories of hunting with my brother and father that draw me to it from time to time. (it's been a decade) plus it's way cheaper if ya actually do get something and I like deer meat if it's done properly.

Personnally, I don't think anyone who hunts with a gun is much of a hunter anyway. Bow hunters...now those are true bushmen and hunting is a tradition in Canada born out of neccesity and revived out of Galon Weston's greed ( ok, I just through that last one in there but it sounds good)

Interesting factoid; I understand that buffalo meat has no fat. Although people in buffalo are predominantly overweight. just kidding

years ago, disney wa critisized for the way the women were shown in thier cartoons. Beauty and teh Beast, Alladin and such. so one day, the animators got together and decided to make a movie they thought no one would have a problem with. they spent two years drawing and researching to make sure it looked great and was acurate in it's portrail of the the facts. well, who would have thought, people crawled out of the woodwork and critisized the movie. there weren't enough "ethnic" voices, the females of the movie were shown to be but slaves.
the movie? The Lion King.
it just shows there are people on this earth who seem it is their god given right to bitch and complain about everything.
as for the female lions, that is the way it is in real life, but that didn't stop all the protests over the movie.
so to all of you i say this, i agree with the right to voice an opinion, no matter how stupid you appear to be, but spare me the crap of "we're going to boycott you if you don't do what we want". if you thing it is wrong, don't go.
if you have something to say about a movie, song, tv show, or whatever, at least watch or listen to it before you give us your opinion.
and one final thought, if i want to watch porn, eat fatty cheeseburgers, drive a gas guzzling SUV, have a fire in my fireplace, or drive myself to the cornerstore 100ft away, that is my right.
so go suck an egg you two faced, minority, censorship freaks!

but that's just my opinion

You're right as what?

Does the porn keep you off the streets and out of our parks slave?

Certainly you're not implying it's your right as a human being to guzzle and waste all the resources without regard for our precious earth and those that may (or may not in your case) come after?

All this just because you are and it's all yours for the taking eh, slave, first come first serve, that's your motto?

As for the fatty cheeseburger, the next one is on me, I'll buy

Good one, this ya' got right, we're all quilty as hell, yep even you slave. Whatever suits our purpose is what we do, ain't it the truth... selfish, lowdown, resource guzzling, no good citizen joe.

yes that is what i am implying.
and first come first serve is a great motto.

to hell with the rest, cause i am the best!

hmm, another great motto!

and what's wrong with porn, look at the netherlands, lowest rates of rape, drug abuse and sexual harrasment in the work place!

of coarse there are limits. they are called right and wrong. you know it is wrong to kill someone. you know it is wrong to rob a bank. you know it is wrong to follow someone home and beat them with a baseball bat.
my grandfather fought at Dieppe in WWI. in WWII, he was one of the first to land in Normandy. he fought for you and i and everyone else to have the life we have now.
i belong to a union that has a majority of members who are either to lazy or to stupid to vote for thier future. that is why i say to hell with the people out there. they don't realize what a threat that contract is to our jobs.
people out there in general complain about everything. i have been to places in the world and seen things that you and others will never see. i have been to countries that are constantly under the threat of terrorism and assasination if you hold the wrong political views. i have seen people dying in the streets. i have seen people who have to hike 200 miles into the mountains with 150 pounds on thier back to make $10. i have been there, seen that.
that is why i don't believe in welfare. i do believe in abortion. i don't believe in murder. i do believe in the death penalty.
i really believe we live on a planet that is doomed to extinction because of the stupidity that is known as the human race.
so i am going to do what i want for now. if that means cutting down a few trees for firewood to keep me warm at night, so be it. i just don't care because you don't.
and that's the way i feel because it is my right to feel that way. and if people don't like it.....whatever!

Slave, if you opt to chop trees down - please only take dead trees, do not take trees that are still living.

I have lived a life whereby the dead trees we hauled out of the forest, to provide heat in our family home.

You do not believe in welfare. You have had a very secure life, regardless that your great grandfather, and grandfather fought in the wars.

I hope people of your nature and opinions, can walk the walk, and talk the talk. However, it makes christmas somewhat more interesting to read posts of this self centered nature.

What foundations did your great, great, grandparents lay for you - of course, in your opinion? Whatever they laid for you, you are living it now and you should be thankful for it.

Fair enough Slave, that is open and honest, can't fault you for that and I will defend your right to speak and feel freely.

I do have questions about your obvious commitment to the short term version of life.

Do you have children? What do you think your responsibility is, if any, to the future of your offspring, if any?

Have you ever been without benefit of comforts in life; food, shelter etc. or have you always had backup resources, family, friends.

Do you have compassion for those who have less? What if anything do you do to help those who are less fortunate, deserved or not?

Siggy, slave is a very close friend of mine and while slave certainly has little in the way of patience for lazyness or stupidity he has always shown himself to be very generous, compassionate and caring for those willing to stick up for themselves and at least try.

I will say, and he won't like it much, that he is taking a very deliberate stand on purpose and at it's heart lies some wisdom with regards to the membership. (I hate it when slave is so damn cryptic but I guess we all have our little quirks and slave enjoys beating around the bush.)

I will offer this...how can anyone help the movement correct itself when everyone is just looking out for number 1?

How can we innitiate effective communication when people "paint with very broad strokes" and over generalize? ... see above lol

If one opts not to look out for their brothers, sisters, the total environment they live in, go for it. I may not like it.

You'll find when you are at the end of the line, no one is going to be there for 'you'. You will find yourself a very lonely individual. I doubt any union or governmental official is going to come to rescue you.

As politicially correct as it is to recycle, which I make our entire home do, I wish I could "decycle".

"Decycle" the warp mind and the high pockets.
