Yikes!! I'm Being Threatened With Legal Action By My Union!!!

My Union's Dollars at Work

My union, The Brewery, Winery & Distillery Workers' Union, Local 300, through its legal representative Anthony Glavin of Fiorillo Glavin Gordon, has threatened legal action against me for allegedly making "false and defamatory statements...concerning the Union, and Messrs. [Rick] Sutherland, [Roy] Graham, [Gerry] Bergunder, and [Chuck] Puchmayr" on this website and that of rabble.ca.

I see this threat plainly as an attempt on the part of the Union to muzzle me, to prevent the truth of a few matters from ever seeing the light of day. I view this much the same as (then president) Gerry Bergunder's letter to me dated January 17, 2000, in which he libeled me to the Union's Table Officers and threatened me with expulsion from the Union for doing little more than exercising my rights under Section 8 of the Labour Code. (Section 8 is entitled "The Right to Communicate")

You should know, I'm not one who takes kindly to threats -especially from those bullies who would use their elected offices to thwart me from revealing the awful truth about my union and the abysmal conduct of some of its officers (past and present).

As a means to save the Union's membership the additional costs of a defamation suit in the courts, my response to Mr. Glavin's and the Union's eight specific allegations will be made PUBLICLY -online and in as many web forums as will consent to its printing.

That's all I'm saying for now. But in the coming days, Tony Glavin's threatening letter will be posted on this web forum and I will then go about the business of refuting his allegations of defamation of Local 300, its officers (past and present) and the law firm of Fiorillo Glavin Gordon. Stay tuned...

Labatt Buster: The same thing happened to me and another outspoken fellow union member.

Last fall, the IWA/Steelworker's lawyer sent me a letter that said I had made a defamatory comment and threatened legal action. I firmly believe that I have never made any defamatory comments. When the lawyer was asked to support the allegation, he never responded.

I am wondering if there is a form letter that union lawyers use to send to members who speak out about the unfair and unjust treatment they receive from their union leadership?

dont let this juvenile tactic detract you from your real target, it is just a ploy to get you off your game.
