The Potentate R.I.P.

For evolving netizens, online ID's are more than just clever handles. They're parts of us that...evolve. ISDU Potentate is doing it and talking about it.

The Potentate: R.I.P.

By Elvis Viskovic

The game is over. And I don't mean the one involving Royal Host, UFCW and their other corrupt friends. That one ended a few days ago. I'm referring to a bigger game.

It really hit me last night. Way too f*****g hard. But I'm very happy and relieved that it did. I think it was the combination of horrid fast food, a joint and MFD-oriented thoughts. I'm giving up the pot. Hopefully for good this time.

And with the pot... goes the Potentate.

Yes, I have decided to retire member #666, the founder of the International Shit Disturbers Union, affectionately known to all as the ISDU Potentate.

You're all aghast. You can't comprehend this. You're all on the verge of flooding tears. Hey, it's my story so you better damn well play along. Grab those tissues!! The birth - and evolution - of a potentate.

Elvis Viskovic:

I have followed your story from the beginning and admire your ability to fully engage the reader. You are clever, colourful, full of life and have an extremely strong sense of justice. For reasons unknown to me, I have grown an attachment to you. To me, you feel like a friend/colleague/brother of mine.

I too, have taken on some of the qualities you created in 'The Potentate.' It makes life a little easier to bare.

I feel a bit of 'The Potentate' coming on right now. Oh oh! This message is to the good ol' boys in the union hall - Eat Shit!

All the best to you Elvis,
Susan Roth

Satan, The Devil, Lucifer, Beelzebub, The Prince of Darkness.

Changing ones name does not change the person, and no matter how evil the Potentate tried to be, The truth that he was Elvis always showed through in both his posts and his actions.

I suggest a séance.

All good things come; all good things go. Your time with us as the potentate was invaluable. Now your time with us as Elvis will be even more so.

To the demise of Mr P i tip my hat an offer this toast: We will remember you sweetly with your ability to elevate, frustrate, levitate, motivate and most of all make them regurgitate...bless you my son, may the gods (scary shit for those numbers ya carried) be with you.

Aw, I'm sure the guy is floating around somewhere looking in on his fellow MFDers. He would be the kind of guy that enjoys funerals. They poked Andy Kaufman's body just to make sure. And they still weren't sure.

The biggest surprise in reading all the insane rantings of the Potentate, was that the targets never tried to shut him up... I mean in a legal sense. There were a ton of blatant accusations there. Is it possible that some of that bad sounding stuff was actually correct?

... and Elvis (Evils?) did say the story isn't yet fully detailed. Look at Tupac Shakur. Most of his 'good stuff' was released after his 'death'.

Whatever happens, I'm sure it'll be interesting.

shedding the skin worn so long
a new day will dawn
but it still remains the same
this lifes crazy game

under all the diabolical speak and anger was a person who only seeked fairness and justice. We need people who wont roll over just because we're told to do so. We need to be angry sometimes. We need to ask questions....

and that is a good thing.

and maybe, just maybe - it stirred the potentate in us all.

cheers and good luck Elvis.
You are free.

To quote the good doctor, and I hope you read some of his stuff.

"We stomped terra, baby!" ~ HST

Pot and Hunter were very similar.

My personal favourite quote spoke was immediately fitted to the Potenate from the moment I encountered him.

"When the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro"

Elvis, you're part Hunter S. Thompson, part Carlos Castenada, with just a dash of Liberace.

USXH²0 - I posted in a frenzy of emotion, and neglected my duties with the spell checker, I stand duly chastised.

I am busy having a cool one to welcome Elvis out from behind Potentate.

I don't want to sound like some kind of groupie but I'm going to boast that I've actually met Elvis!

He's a very cool guy and living proof that working people need to explore - and articulate - all those "negative" feelings that we're not supposed to have about how we're treated. We also must recognize that we have an innate creativity that can be used not only to understand ourselves but to inspire and conspire towards our own goals and to scare the living shit out of the oppressors.

Do you ever wonder why the powers-that-are like it when you're anethetized? It's so you don't pull a Potentate and start crapping on all their sacred cows.

Looking forward to your future creative contributions E. And if the Potentate wants to come back once in a while, well why the hell not let him!

Ditto on that RV - Quite certain others, are too, looking forward to future creative contributions.

Potentate - as luck has it, this door at MFD has a welcome mat. Every now and then, we all have to sit a spell and listen to a good cursing - keeps us all in balance. . .ya'll come back now, ya hear!

I still hit the "Add Reply" with a wince at the thought of what attack I will be faced with from the ISDU. The value he added was beyound what he would accept credit for.

USXH²O, I had thought that one up some time ago, but as I do not have a keypad on my laptop I must use Word to accomplish it. I think the ASCII code is ALT + 248 or something close to that.

I think someone should have been handed the ISDU gauntlet and done the "Dread Pirate Roberts" thing when E decided to exit, stage right... uh... left I guess... keep us all honest.
