Generous Donor Pays Our Debt To The UFCW

Generous Donor Pays Our Debt To The UFCW

When our dispute with the UFCW International Union over the domain address www.ufcw.netended in a judge's ruling that we considered generally favourable a couple of months ago, we deliberated at some length as to how and when to cough up the $100 in damages that we were ordered to pay to the Plaintiff UFCW.

Various ideas were floated: A box with10,000 pennies, maybe with 2 cents extra thrown in so as to require counting and recounting, was one. There were others that were more inventive and gross.

Unable to come to a consensus, we decided to wait to see if, when and how North America's largest private sector union would come after Sharyn Sigurdur, UFCW-member-in-good-standing, to extract the measely c-note. We would allow the Plaintiff's decision to inform ours. Maybe they would ask politely or offer to put the funds towards some charitable cause. If that was the case we'd be good sports and just write them a check. If they weren't, well, the right method of delivery would come to us.

As discussion in MFD forum turned to just what the UFCW might do with our $100, a tersely written demand to pay the Plaintiff's damages "forthwith" arrived on Sharyn's doorstep last month.

A generous donor, who was most disappointed with the UFCW's ungracious behaviour, came forward with an offer to pick up the tab. We knew right away that we just couldn't refuse.

MFD would like to thank Hugh Finnamore and Workplace Strategies Inc. for their check, dated December 25, 2005, for $100 payable to the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Re: Legal Donation Sigurdur et al. We've sent it to the Plaintiffs and hope they don't spend it all in one place. Given their legendary hostility towards Finnamore, what will they do with it?

Considering how his union screwed him, it
was good of Finnamore to pay the $100.00 . But next time that MFD finds itself in a similar situation, I would suggest that MFD call on its members to donate their pennies. $100.00 in damages, 10,000
pennies. Have a penny drive!

Excellent move Mr. Finnamore! Kinda like wiping your ass with the c-note before handing it over huh? Priceless!

We thought about having a penny drive Sheila (and maybe even delivering the pennies to UFCW Canada headquarters with a contingent of noisy shitdisturbers to make sure the great ones know it's been delivered) but then Hugh made his offer and, well, it was just too sweet to pass up.

Knowing how much UFCW leaders despise him and that they're still smarting from the outcome of Dimwits v. Finnamore, made it, well...what atuuschaaw said...

Great Christmas Greetings, HF! Smooth move.

Tell me, did anyone receive a note ~paid in full~ a thank you card...

Geez, I almost feel like doing the penny drive, do you think we could get enough pennies by December 25th, 2006 to acknowledge $100.00 and donate it to

UFCW is an ____________ fill in the blanks.

I'm on a budget, but I put my pennies in a sock, hide somewhere, bring them out December 2006.

yankeebythe water I'm with you. I think we
should do a penny drive every year to commemorate
the event and call it the "Finnamore Christmas Penny Drive."

Every year MFD members donate their pennies with the goal to collect 10,000 pennies to be promptly delivered to UFCW headquarters at Christmas. Can
you imagine?

They're probably are going to invest that $100.00 on that sinking condo investment, just like our pension money. I would have paid them with Canadian Tire money.

Knowing the dorks, they will probably have Watts fly out to Vancouver, at a cost of several thousand dollars, to pick up the cheque.

If that's the case, expect it to be picked up in February. You can never find a UFCW dork in December and January. They like to take some time off to rest up for trips and conventions.

Oh! Aren't the dorks meeting in Toronto to figure out how to have less painful relations with their "partner".

Apparently it hurts quite a bit it there ain't $3 million to lubricate the insertion of oppressive practices and the extraction of a trunkload of goodies.

They are staying in the best of the best hotels in downtown TO. Nothin' but the best for the boys that can't say no.

And it should be good. One of the McArthur boys will be makin' sure that it's catered well.

I think that in addition to the $100.00, you should have been sentenced to do some community service-- such as?…….. maintaining a UFCW reform website.

Thanks for all the hard work and for shining a light on the corruption and hypocrisy.

How about 100 Jamaican Dollars?
It could be spent at one of those CCWIPP hotels down there.
Total debt paid equals $1.83 Canadian.
